Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Assassination died in 67

Shinzo Abe, the longest prime minister in Japan, died at the age of 67 Friday after being shot during a campaign speech in Western Japan, hospital officials confirmed. Japanese NHK television previously reported Abe's death. It was a surprising attack in a country that had some of the most stringent weapons control laws anywhere.

Abe was shot from behind the minute after he began his speech on Friday in Nara in Western Japan. Local fire department official Makoto Morimoto said Abe was in the arrest of cardio and lungs after being shot. His heart stopped when he was flown to the hospital, said Morimoto. He was declared dead then in the hospital.

The police arrested a male suspect at the shooting place in Nara, Head of Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters. According to NHK, Japanese public announcer Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, was arrested.

The Ministry of Defense official said Yamagami worked for Maritime Defense Forces for three years to around 2005, NHK reported. The suspect said he was not satisfied with and aimed at killing Abe in the police statement, NHK said, quoting the police authority.

The shooting was "savage, and evil, and could not be tolerated," said Kishida. "We will do everything we can. I want to use the most extreme words available to condemn this action."

NHK aired a recording showing Abe fainted on the road, with several security guards running towards him, he bleeds and holds his chest.

The witness reported hearing the sound of gunfire in a real attack on Nara. Abe stood up while holding an election campaign ahead of the Sunday election for the Parliamentary High Council.

Japan has some of the most stringent weapons in the world. Prospective owners must undergo formal instructions and written, mental, and drug tests and strict background checks.

One of Abe's main domestic success was his success offer to host the 2020 Tokyo Olympiad but the success was tarnished by Pandemi Coronavirus who forced his delay until 2021.

His ultra-nationalism made Korea and China, and his encouragement to normalize Japanese defense posture made many Japanese angry. Abe failed to achieve his objectives that were valued to officially rewrite the Pacific Constitution designed by the US because of poor public support.

After his resignation, Abe remains an influential political figure in the Liberal Democratic Party. He campaigned for a party when he was shot Friday.
